Thirty years ago, I packed up my life and moved to South America. What followed was an epic two-decade adventure - and two daughters, born in Argentina, who grew up speaking Spanish as naturally as breathing.
When we moved back to the UK in 2014, something started to slip. Surrounded by English speakers, my girls were losing the language that was part of who they were. I wasn't prepared to let that happen.
So I home educated them. We worldschooled for six years. I built a framework around keeping Spanish alive - and it worked. Today, at 15 and 17, my daughters are multilingual: Spanish, English, Welsh, and French.
That experience became Adventures in Spanish. Because every family deserves the chance to raise bilingual children - and they shouldn't have to move to another continent to do it.
